Homemade Snickers

Gooey caramel, sweet milk chocolate and a peanut nougat come together to make a delicious bar that will remind you of a classic Snickers candy bar.

Ingredients: 

First Layer:

1 1/2 cups milk chocolate chips

1/4 cup peanut butter

​

Second layer:

1/4 cup butter

​

1/4 cup evaporated milk

​

1 cup sugar

​

1 (7 oz.) container marshmallow fluff

​

1/4 cup peanut butter

​

1 1/2 cup peanuts, roughly chopped

​

1 t. vanilla extract

 

Third Layer:

14 oz. unwrapped caramels

​

1/4 cup heavy cream

​

Fourth Layer:

1 1/2 cups milk chocolate chips

​

1/4 cup peanut butter

Directions:

Line a baking sheet with edges with aluminum foil.  

​

First layer:  Melt chocolate chips and peanut butter  until smooth.  Pour onto the baking sheet and spread it out into an even layer.  Refrigerate until set while you make the second layer.

Second layer:  Add the butter, milk and sugar to a saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture boils.  Reduce the heat to low and cook for 5 minutes.  Remove the pan from heat and add the marshmallow fluff, peanut butter, and vanilla extract.  Stir until smooth.  Stir in peanuts.  Pour over bottom layer and place in refrigerator while you prepare the third layer.

Third layer:  Place the caramels and milk in a saucepan over medium heat and stir until smooth.  Once the mixture is smooth, cook for another 4 minutes.  Pour over the nougat and refrigerate until set.

Fourth layer:  Melt chocolate chips and peanut butter until smooth and pour it over the caramel layer and spread it evenly on top. Refrigerate until set.
